‘I wish we could have stayed a whole year!’
The Grade 4 children attended Camp Nelu, which is situated near Bufflespoort, Magaliesberg. Camp Nelu’s mission is to provide hands on environmental and learning experiences in a fun and safe environment. The children took part in an adventure-based programme that makes learning fun!
When they arrived, the children were divided into three groups. They had to come up with a name for their new country, as well as a national anthem, national bird and language. This helped to form close bonds and enabled successful group work for the duration of camp.
Other fun activities included a discovery hike, low ropes, group problem solving challenges, fort attack, bush craft, archery and the campfire extravaganza. The highlight of the trip was the obstacle course, where all children were covered from head to toe in mud!
All children returned to school with heavy hearts after saying goodbye to Gigi, Twinkles, Bruce Lee and Door. They had thoroughly loved their experience away from home!
